hi - anyone been in the position of being approached by la to adopt third full sibling? question not yet asked formally as baby not yet arrived, but just interested if we are likely to get any financial support - in terms of a lump sum or an ongoing payment, to help with associated costs, preparing the house, vehicles etc. anyone been through this? thanks

Sorry, just saw your post as I don't normally look in this section. You might be better to post it somewhere else (though not quite sure where!) In answer to your question, we are adopting a sibling and it is being proposed we get an adoption allowance to help us do this. HTH

sentyou a pm.sorryabout typos need new specs. by the waythey wouldn't fund car but by then wr didn't push it! but we didn't manage a family trip for the first six months andin an oldbanger then.so I would definitely add as a necessity. dependant on your location and physical needs. wewere in the sticks and I was stuck home a lot. not good.

Hi there. We're in a similar situation - been approached to adopt a third sibling. I stopped work this year to focus on looking after our current 2, so our income has seriously reduced...and of course won't be eligible for maternity pay etc etc when no 3 comes along. Very nervous about the financial implications... Our LA indicated that we could be eligible for adoption allowance - means tested obviously. No talk about funding something like a new car etc, although we're hoping that (somehow) our current cars will fit 3 in ! Also not sure if we'd still get the placement lump sum we got last time (around £600). Will be asking lots of questions when our SW is assigned ! Good luck !!

thanks so much for sharing your experiences - we have asked the questions of our social worker, and are awaiting response, but it is useful to hear what other people are going through. all the best to everyone!
