In case anyone else searches in future for similar info, please could the Helpdesk put on some general pointers - ie what the PM would have said? As per feedback on other forums, it's a bit limiting to cut out all the users of the forum when AUK Helpline answers this way to posters' queries. Many users see forums as useful to learn as well as to ask/answer questions. Answering in this way from AUK (of all people!) brings any learning to an abrupt halt. If the AUK helpline response at this stage is merely encouraging someone to phone them, for their (often very valuable) expertise, why, oh why, do the likely contents of the phone call need to be limited just to the person who posts on the forum?

You don't really need a solicitor, we are going through the criminal injures board for our LO we have done it all ourselves with help from our LO's old SW, we are 4 years into the claim as they need a lot of information and they have told it can take along time due the complex nature of our LO's case.

Hi, I too am looking for help in appealing against a criminal injuries payment. Payment is being offered for a documented physical injury, but not for sexual abuse and for ongoing mental health issues. If a child has been taken into care because of abuse and neglect then why is criminal injuries so narrowly focused? I would appreciate help from the helpdesk
