Journalist request about infertility

Press and PR May 25, 2021 11:52

This request has been checked and verified by Adoption UK.

I am a journalist working on a long-form piece as part of my course. My piece is about infertility from the perspective of someone young and is based on personal experience (I have a condition called Turner Syndrome which means I am infertile, and I have known I probably can't have children myself from the age of fourteen). The piece would include interviews with a wide range of voices including people who are infertile for other reasons and people who have alternative families. It essentially explores the options open to people and navigating the system (from the basis that it's really hard to plan and we need to open up the conversation). Once I've written it will initially be placed online but I am also looking to pitch it to a publication such as The Guardian. I think one really important conversation to include is with someone who does have an adopted family - I am very willing to keep it anonymous and would obviously treat the subject sensitively as I know it can be a difficult topic to talk about. Let me know if you would be willing to chat or to help me find some interviewees. Interviewees can remain anonymous if identification is an issue. Kind regards, Scarlett Scarlett
