Skin

minnie7 May 30, 2013 22:44
My LO (mixed race) has started developing white patches on his face. I was wondering if anyone has come across this? I was planning to make a GP appt but in the meantime thought someone here may have come across it. Should I be worried? Is it "normal" (for want of a better word). Thank you.Minnie x

Did not explain that very well did I sorry. because their Is no pigment the skin it is usually in white patches. my friend never had any problems with it, the mane problem is cosmetic, but to be honest it made my friend more attractive in a quirky kind of way

my brother has this too, though he is white british so it is pale skin even paler! doesn't cause him any problems other than needing to take care of skin in the sun more than he other wise would have. his is mostly on his arms and back. still worth seeing the gp to be certain though and to get advice.

I have a relative with a condition that takes the pigment from his skin and hair, its called Viteligo I think, to do with immune systems- but there are all kinds of things that can affect skin and its presentation. my relative is Caucasian so it wasnt picked up until he got older and got a sun tan interestingly.

My aunty has this too (if it is the condition suggested).Until you get a prognosis, I would suggest to use high factor sun protection to protect LO's skin.
