having helped at countless friends children''s birthdays and been excluded from all the chat about nappies, teething, etc etc to have a happy child at the centre of attention at a birthday party with a table laden with presentsToday Simba had his 9th birthday party, 20 friends came, including one he met at cub camp a few weeks ago, who is very promising as a special friend. I got to have a right old whinge with the other mothers about changes at school - yay I am finally part of the in crowd, I have a houseful of ''interesting'' plastic stuff and one exhausted but very happy little boy.Its not actually his birthday for another week, but I gave him my present, a rather lovely wigwam for the garden. It was lovely to see him sitting in it with his two best friends, gossiping and rifling through their party bags.So in the last few weeks, I have had a night off when he was at cub camp, a successful first evening with a babysitter whilst I went to a gig, and a fabulous birthday party, one happy, if thoroughly exhausted mummyoh and Simba''s trainer just sent me a very suggestive text in error, clearly meant for his new girlfriend, but given that I am old enough to be his mum, was quite unlifting

20 kids, wow! That is brave, but yes lovely to see him accepted and happy.Wigwam sounds lovely too.As for the text, are you going to let him know you got it?? could either be hilarious or very uncomfortable, depending on your personalities, I guess!

well we have known each other a long time, and I'm not that easily offended and assumed it was meant for someone else, turns out he left his phone at a BBQ and a 'friend' sent loads of texts to his clients, family, of which the one to me was comparatively quite tame so he has spent a lot of time today apologisingyes it is lovely to Simba with so many friends, we have had a bit of post party spoilt brat behaviour and he still finds it hard that he can't be with other children all the time, but he has had a fantastic time
