So Proud of my big boy

Viva September 7, 2013 10:35
In amongst the struggles with my beautiful DD there have been 2 great things that happened with my gorgeous eldest DS. The little thing! He asked his sister if she wanted him to kick her in the face instead of just trying to do it and held himself together and didn't try to hurt her under considerable (for him) provocation :-) The big thing! He has been chosen by his teachers to be a prefect!!!! With responsibilities such as helping one day a week in the school office, answering the phone and sorting letters, as well as showing people around the school, and privileges such as sitting on a bench with the other prefects and house captains instead of the floor in assemblies! When he told me he wanted to be a prefect at the start if term, I told him how great I thought he'd be but hardly dared hope that the teachers would see that he could handle the responsibility and recognise how good it would be for his fragile self esteem, we are over the moon! Oh, and he's cooking dinner for us today, with a little, subtle help from me!

That's amazing! How good that is for his self esteem, and well done to the school for recognizing his value in the job xx

It was thank you Sivier, and only a couple of minor left downs from which he recovered quickly during it! Think cooking/baking could be a real winner as it occupies him without him being in front of a screen, which at 10 is what he loves most, he gets one on one time with me and we get to tell him how great he is... And of course he's learning an important life skill too!
