Ideas and Topics for Support Groups

Group Coordinator Supervisor March 11, 2015 16:16
Just arrived! There is an 'Ideas and Topics for Support Groups' in the Group Coordinator resources area now. It includes information types of meetings and topics and speakers. The list has been compiled from the ideas gathered at the Volunteer day last June and from information gathered from Group Coordinators at supervision sessions, so thanks to all who contributed! You are very welcome to add ideas here or ask for further details from the Ideas and Topics list.

It's great to see the list of ideas for support group meetings in the resources area. Just one amendment - I see you have Berni Stringer down as a speaker based in London, but she is actually Midlands based, hence the availability for speaking at Midlands groups. Also can anyone tell me more about Gareth Marr (he's listed under education) - is he a Senco and what area will he speak in? Finally, myself or Nicola (the Black Country GC's) are happy to come and speak to Midlands groups about education and how to support children who have experienced developmental trauma in school. Google Braveheart Education for details. Julie

Hiya, Gareth Marr is an adoptive parent from Berkshire who has worked very closely with his child's school, local authority and Adoption UK to make some real progress regarding support for adopted children in his borough's schools. He wants to see this progress applied nationally. You can read about him and his campaign on his blog - http://lushlife7.com/ He is a keen blogger and Tweeter. Hope that helps. Kate

Hi Cathy Go to the Resources tab on the website. You will find a drop down menu. One of the options is 'Group Coordinator Resources' Highlight and click on that and scroll down and you will find several resources including the ideas and Topics List Hope that helps Rosemary

Hi there, I to am trying to get some information but can't see the Topics List listed. I've tried what Rosemary has suggested. I also can't access other information from that list. Perhaps I'm not linked to this for some reason? Can anyone help please? Thanks, Julie

I'm not an expert but of you can see this forum, you should I believe be able to see the group coordinators resources. From here go to the top of the page & select "Resources" from menus across the top, then down the page where it says 'filter by' and --categories-- select "group coordinator resource" and hit search. Don't select anything in the Tags box (this is what I was getting wrong!). The topics list is there, its called "Group Coordinator resource - Ideas for support group meetings". Hope this helps! Cathy
