My older DD is now 13, and has been with me for not quite 3 years. I have just been made redundant, which has been on the cards but not definite for a few months now. Then it became definite, but I didn''t want to worry her.Soooo... I had an interview for a new job lined up, had worked out what savings I had, asked my mother for help etc so I could tell her but with lots of reassurance that plenty was in place to get us through it.She was completely unphased by the news, and not a trace of worry - and then of course I realised that in the community she comes from unemployment and casual employment are the norm, and everyone muddles through somehow.
