Apologies if this topic has been well-covered elsewhere, but can anyone recommend some good books/resources to expand my knowledge of various adoption issues?I am particularly interested in adoptees'' issues and I''ve already got a hold of ''The Primal Wound'', ''Mother Me'' and the book dealing with social networking (I cannot remember the name).Any other suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks,Ben

If you look at the Resources Board at the bottom of the main page, there is a thread on there called Recommended Reading for Adopters, or something like that. You may find some suitable books there. HTH

You might be interested in "As if I was a real boy" by Gordon and Jeannie Mackenzie, it was written in partnership between an adult adoptee and his adopted mum. I enjoyed it from the perspective of another single adoptive parent who adopted an older child. But the insight and perspective of the son really makes the book, I think.

All our LossesAll our Griefs..by Mitchell and Anderson. So many adoption related books will focus on the effects of trauma and then subsequent behaviours. Once you know that stuff....it is a given, but to move on and make sense of why some of us keep getting hurt and are causing hurt through adoption , (both adoptee AND adopter), then reading this book has gone some way to explain why I and my dd are knocked sideways by grief due to our losses at the most unexpected times. It is an older book given to me by a very good friend who is an adopter and I believe 'gets it'in a very down to earth, realistic way. It is written by 2 Pastors, but I can recommend it for secular readers as well.
