Adopting children who are relatives from abroad

Buka May 22, 2021 13:05

Hello all,

My husband and I would like to adopt 3 kids who are his nephews and niece. They’re all over 10 years old. Their mum (my husband’s sister) died last week. Their dad died 10 years ago. They live in Nigeria. My husband is a British citizen, I have a settled status as I’m from the EU.

We have no idea where to start. Do we still have to adopt them through an agency seeing that they’re our relatives?

A little background on us, we’ve been married for 10 years and have a son of our own. We have a good relationship with the kids and we are is daily contact with them.

Thank you for any advice in advance.

Might give you an idea where to start. I suspect it won’t be straightforward or inexpensive
