2nd Opinion Visit

cupcakekisses July 26, 2013 13:17
Hi everyone, I hope you don''t mind me posting here as I thought it was maybe the best place to aim my query. We have our second opinion visit today (our PAR has gone to panel ready for us in a couple of weeks) and I was just wondering if anyone could shed some light on the meeting? Did you have any questions that you asked or thought afterwards ''oh I wish I''d asked that'', or likewise were you asked any questions that you thought ''oh I didn''t expect that''? We''ve been told the basics of its requirement, and both myself and DH have got some questions lined up (the person doing the visit used to sit on panels so we want to know if they can see any pertinent questions we might be asked) but was just after other peoples experience/advice really.Happy Friday!

Hi cupcakekissesThis may be too late for your visit but our second opinion visit was quite short and was mainly based on some questions the sw had after reading our PAR (she had met us before at our prep group so was familiar)... she clarified some points which weren't clear (and if not clear to her then not clear to panel so a good thing to do!) and asked for more details in a couple of areas. She also gave us pointers as to what she thought panel would pick up on and want to know more about and so we ended up with a list of things to think about how we would word stuff in the meeting. She asked about our experience of the process and our feedback on our SW was included in the final report. We also asked her a few timescale / process questions we had been meaning to ask our SW.After the meeting she sent her report to us and to our SW and we were able to make a few changes - for accuracy sake more than anything else.Good luck with it - you will be fine I am sure

Hi annie70 that was really useful, thank you. I'm leaving work in 10 minutes for our meeting - I feel absolutely fine about all these things until about an hour before then nerves get hold of me. At least my idea of what the meeting is for is the same as you have just described so that has put my mind at rest. Is it worrying if I said I have actually enjoyed the process...not sure what that says about me as a person really!? hah! Hey ho, best get my bum into gear!
