Thanking the social worker

PaintedLady December 8, 2019 22:25

Sounds a bit of a random question but has anyone thanked their SW with a gift of some description? Our SW has gone above and beyond for us. We have had bad experiences in the past with terrible SWs so we know she has above and beyond for us. She has been so supportive, understanding and helpful and we want to show her this. Just wondering if this is the norm or do you just seeing it as them doing their job?

Hi,

we have in the past bought gifts and cards for social workers. I think it depends on the relationship you have with them. I’m sure they’ll be over the moon, so much negativity and criticism towards them a lot of the time, a small appreciation sounds lovely:-)

Yes, when our adoption order was approved we sent a personalised box of chocolates with a photo of our family and a personalised message to both our social worker and the kids’ social worker. You can easily find this sort of personalised gift online. In addition, we sent an e-mail to both social workers’ managers (copying them) to thank them for everything they had done and highlighting how supportive and professional they had been throughout the entire process.
