I need a job!!

wee me January 8, 2012 00:29
Can anyone advise me what to do? I''ve been waiting nearly a year now, approved for a young child. I gave up my job pending the decision and whatever happened when the baby arrived. I use a wheelchair and am still not entirely sure if I can work and be a mum at the same time. I would love to get something as I''m bored stiff in the house, I''ve been studying at home but I feel I want to get out now and do something with it. Would you get a job just now or would you wait until baby arrives to help decide? I just don''t want to get a job then tell them I need to leave if it comes to that. Also, would I be too early to request some help around the home even though I''m not yet linked with a child? Thanks x

Have you thought of volunteering?Plenty of organisations, public and charitable welcome volunteers. There is no absolute commitment on either side but both sides benefit greatly. I volunteered in a children's centre when I was unemployed, still do a bit now I'm a student. Contacts and opportunities have arisen and you get new skills, knowledge and understanding relating to the sector you volunteer in. On your other point, if it were me I would evaluate what I might need, using "what ifs" and then make enquiries and do research. I wonder if you did apply they would just say - come back when...HTH
