Parents evening at nursery...

MGM November 16, 2012 17:13
Thought I''d share one of our recent ''firsts''. We attended our little ones parents evening at nursery recently. She is 2y8m and has been going to nursery since just before her 2nd birthday (she has been home with us for 16 months) for two mornings a week. We''ve both said (hubby and I) that we''d love to be a fly on the wall at nursery to see what she gets up to all morning, so looking through her folder was a welcome insight. There were pics of her in the garden playing, and pics of her playing with the other kids (and holding hands with one little girl she''s particularly friendly with). They made mention of how good she is with colours, numbers and shapes. She gets along with the other kids (she hasn''t had any serious spats with any of them) but will say “give me that”! if any of the others try to take the toy she is playing with, and is capable of sticking up for herself. There is one little boy who has been going to nursery for a similar amount of time (maybe a month or so less) as our little one. Whenever I go to collect her, this little boy is usually playing alone and I''ve never seen him ''happy'' (he''s often upset). I always make a point of waving to him or saying hello. When I collected my daughter at the start of the week from nursery, she was playing with this little boy, and it was the first time I had seen him look contented. He was jumping around on the soft play stuff with her, I was SO proud of her for including him (even though she probably didn''t do it deliberately!)
