Court this week

Pear Tree September 4, 2013 11:31
Hi all, Blossoms case goes to court and we've worked very hard indeed in getting all the reports sorted out for her. Trying not to get our hopes up but there seems to be a little more optimism that she may be tagged instead of sent to prison. Confronted camhs and ss about their decisions having lead us to this horrible position and they explained they do actually care but they can't negate all risks...... I did loose it at that point..... But then managed to salvage some good changes in practice like the more regular involvement and the supervision of forensic services for our camhs team. Someone who helped us long ago with blossom has suddenly appeared back in contact, a professional but one who cares and will help us. This individual is well known in the field and has shared his deep concern for blossom but actually, his chief concern is what all this does to me and mr pt. A kind man indeed. A rare find, it really is worth keeping the names of people who know their onions and are prepared to stand up for you. I just have no idea what prison for blossom or tagging for blossom will look like so please share any expertise. Many thanks to all.

Hi Pear Tree My AS was electronically tagged and given community service as an alternative to a prison sentence. It worked very well. When they are tagged they are given a curfew so that they have to be at home between certain hours. If they are not their absence is immediately reported and they are then in breach of the requirements. My son at the time was living with his girlfriend and baby. He had got in with a bad group and was committing serious offences. The electronic tagging forced him to stay home and there was much improvement. He has also done very well with community service. He has had it twice and he was highly regarded by his supervisors. I wish he could have done it on a permanent basis as it provided him with the monitoring and supervision he needs at work. Lily x

Can't answer your questions but thinking of you and hoping that whatever the outcome, blossom will gain something positive from this. Glad you have found some support that sounds helpful to you and your husband. Hang on in there, ndf

Hello PT I have been where you are now and my heart goes out to you. My DS was tagged for a lengthy period by some very understanding magistrates when they could well have sent him to prison.Their intention was to keep him away from the bad influences that had brought him to court and to help him reconnect with us. It worked on both counts and he hasn't been in trouble since. In fact he has just been given a permanent job having successfully completed the probationary period. We could not have imagined this a year ago. Like you we supplied the court with a lot of background information which the professionals assured us contributed greatly to the outcome for our DS. As you have already been told that tagging is a possibility you will probably know that Blossom has to have an address where she will stay and that the owners of that address will be asked to agree to having the monitoring equipment on their premises. It was a surreal experience having Serco making nocturnal visits to our home but the clerk of the court and the probation officer did their best to make it bearable and he had the run of the garden as well as the house and even allowed him to go away on his pre-booked holiday (although they did lengthen the order to take account of this) In all the legal system did its best to deal fairly and effectively with DS , I really hope that Blossom can be dealt with with similar understanding. Thinking of you over the next few days. Gavilan

Thinking back to Blossoms various escape actions it seems that tagging could be quite a positive thing for her.

Thank you all. I won't go into detail but she's not got custodial this time, tagging and YOT order. We are stunned as the judge was a mr hang em Long rant and we thought she'd go down, but not this time. Sadly we're almost sure there will Be another time. It was Jeremy Kyle stuff outside the court though. Fisty cuffs ! 'He don't love you, he loves me!' Etc It's a life I feel ill prepared for tbh, this one. Blossom remains much loved.
