HiAdoption UK previously had an 0845 number which was more expensive and therefore switched to our current 0844 number. Phones from UK landlines are charged at 5p minute, although charges from mobiles and other networks will vary considerably. Please be assured that Adoption UK does not make any revenue from calls and 5p minute call charge covers the running costs only of the virtual call centre which allows for calls to be taken from a number of operators wherever they are geographically. This is necessary to enable us to run a helpline out of hours by operators spread over a wide geographical radius. The average call to the Helpline is for around 15minutes at a cost to the caller of 75p.Whilst our main line is run from England on the 0844 number, we run separate helplines for each Country and these rates are at a standard UK rate as they are separate from our virtual call centre. Having checked our website unfortunately some rates have been incorrectly recorded and we will rectify this immediately. Please note that our Scottish helpline on 0131 555 5111 (which is a different number to the one in your posting) is available between 10 am and 1 pm and callers outside of these hours can call our main helpline number 0844 848 7900 up until 4 pm and will be charged 5p a minute and not 3 pm minute as stated.
