Jellies September 22, 2009 15:17
Hi allOk, the time of the year has arrived and I now need to start looking for an EBD secondary school for EJ.LA being it''s usual non commital self in not offering any advice about which school may be preferrable to us as parents. So do any of you out there have any experience ,good, bad or indifferent about any EBD secondary schools in Wiltshire, BANES, Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire, North Somerset or Monmouth (oh yes, I am prepared to cast the net quite wide !).So as not to identify where your child goes to school, please pm me if you can shine any pearls of wisdom.Obviously done the ofsted search - but I would rather hear from horses mouth''s, if you know what I mean.Jellies

Thanks lons.1 pm which was useful but not in our area.Actually I am very p ed off about it all now because ej got his first bit of homework this weekend since the beginning of term.3 and 4 times tables !!!! He mastered those in yr 3 at mainstream. and he knows all times tables now.Been to south wales thoday and while the boys were having a dip in the sea, I told dh about homework and also about a worrying email that I had from his teacher (which I will post about next week), we are now starting to think that we should consider mainstream after all - i don't think it will ever really be uni for ej, but he is a bright boy and I am beginning to think talk of differentiated work was just that - talk.So maybe I should noe be asking folk about mainstream secondary schools in the same areas that have resource bases and a good track record of being a nuturing environment ?Any takers on that one ??Jellies

Do you have the list of local auk co-ordinators? if there's one close to you, it might be worth rining them up to ask if you don't get any response from herel

Sorry, I'm not in your area - but I feel like I'm in the same situation. (ED is in yr 4, but has a statement, so our choice needs to be in her review in yr 5).It drives me crazy that there is noone within the LA to help with this! I have seen Parent P'ship, but TBH not much help. So anyway, just wanted to say, I sympathise!

Just a thought, but is it worth phoning up your local Educational Psychologist team and asking them for ideas? For Pickle moves into Y3 and Y7 , it was our lovely EP ( who sadly lost her fight against breast ca a couple of months ago) who gave us the info we needed.Fi
