Has anyone any experience of this on the boards ? Its something we are considering in the longer term (when our adopted children are a bit older eg mid teens) due to connections with china.

Adopting from China is complicated at the moment. The non special needs queue is nearly 5 years 3 months long and getting longer every month despite the fact that fewer and fewer are applying to adopt. I don't believe that NSN adoptions from China will be a viable route in the short or medium term. The special needs route would be much quicker and many of the 'needs' are, IMHO, aspects that I would consider in a child. HOWEVER special needs adoption from China to the UK are not possible at the moment as we don't have an agency to facilitate them. There is much fundraising happening at the moment to raise the £50K that the IAC would need to start as an agency, we're just over half way there at the moment. If IAC open as an agency it's only proposed for England at the moment. There's a Yahoo group for UK adopters to China, it's here:http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Adopt-China-UK/Another site that will give you a lot of information, but it's US based is:http://chinaadopttalk.com/Sorry not to be more positive about this at the moment. Good luck with whatever you decide.WHNM
