Panel

Well, after an extremely long wait, I've received confirmation of my panel date! Weird combination of excitement and fear. Wondered what your panel experiences were like, particularly the kinds of things that single adopters get asked. I know it's very individual but I'm very nervous about the questions.

My panel was fine, but its natural to be nervous. Standard question is why this child, they might focus more on support networks, male role models, and financial stuff. There might be specific stuff about your child, eg Simba is dual heritage so they wanted to know how I would promote his identity, he is also LDD and autistic so they also wanted reassurance that I understood the level of support he required into adulthood. So think if there are any 'features' of your child they might focus on. But the chair of the panel should come and tell you what the questions are so you have a bit of time to think about it. Are you taking someone with you? My best friend came into panel with me - it was nice to have someone to hold my hand - good luck, remember that panels generally want this to have a good outcome
