Adopting when Partner has a BC

Vetty August 29, 2013 20:31
My partner and I are going through the adoption process at the moment. We have attended our prep course and had checks/refs and are now waiting for our social worker to contact us to start our home assessments. My partner has a BC with a previous partner. His child lives with his mum, but stays with us 1 night in the week and 1 night at weekends. Does anyone have the same situation and is happy to give advice? Normally when people talk about adopting with a BC the BC lives with them. Our situation is obviously different

Hi- we have both BC and also husband's son- who was staying at the time - SW interviewed him with our BC and they get a private interview with SW without you- his mother then asked our SW for a private interview with her there and was evil beyond - but SW saw it for what it was- although this didn't diminish the utter stress that it caused- it didn't influence the process. So they get interviewed and asked and in panel consideration is given to their needs the same as a child living at home X
