Onto the next chapter

Well that''s the end of PS and I must say its been a pretty tough ride for DS (and us). 6 years of DS being misunderstood, scapegoated, ostracised and demonised by a stream of HT''s and CT''s who tried to make a square peg fit into a round hole! I can feel the sheer relief that he feels. I am hoping that secondary school is a bit different with the staff having more experience of children with lots of different behaviours unlike our small PS who didn''t know how to handle DS. Any examples of PS being a nightmare and things changing for the better at secondary? I could do with some positive stories to give me hope

Primary wasn't a nightmare for us but extremely irritating at times. Yes we have found secondary school better on the whole. With hindsight I would say the main differences are PS saw dd as a problem to be managed (which they were mostly able to do quite well and they had a kindly attitude towards her) whereas SS see dd as a child with issues she needs support with, and PS felt the need to tell us what hard work dd was on a fairly continual basis, whereas SS just inform us of anything we need to know ie we don't get the feeling we have burdened the school with our child. Also dd has coped so much better than we feared - things aren't perfect but she settled a lot as the year went on, and there are definite signs of progress, behaviourally, socially and academically. Hope it continues next year!Hope this helps.
