Birth child now an adult

Summertime100 February 23, 2013 10:12
Hi Everyone I am just looking for ideas really. I am a birth child to a family who adopted a sibling group over ten years ago. In the years that followed I have become a social worker and specialised in adoption. The trouble is that being part of the team which assesses and approves, supports & family finds, I don''t feel I can go to the local adoption uk support group, as there will potentially be people there on ''our books'', and I respect that unlike our support groups, the AdUk ones do not have sw input, making it easier for people to offload so to speak. I do sometimes feel I need support though just as a bc because one of my siblings is in f/care and the others are still at home, they all have significant issues & I help out as much as I can as well as working full time and being a parent myself. I thought using a forum might be a good way to find out more about what is available out there or if there are any other individuals in this position. Many thanks x

you're probably in a fairly unique position but appreciate the dilemma. is there another AUK group any where near to you? anyone can post on here though! but families you know may still post on here as well. difficult position to be in.
