PAR = done

Rainy123 August 15, 2013 08:34

I am not usually one to post my news on these boards but I know there has been some talk over the length of time some PARs have taken to be completed.18 and a half weeks after my last home study session my PAR has been completed. Still not seen it but that was my choice to get some other things done first.Fingers crossed for panel in September. So so excited now and got plenty more waiting to do.

2 weeks! So excited for you. After all your waiting, it is about time something moved quickly for you. Haven't seen my par yet but saw a couple of pages and seemed really good.Roll on panel and hopefully we'll both get matched super fast to make up for our long home study wait

Congrats you two! And good luck for panel. You'll wonder what fuss was about. I found my panel a bit of an anti climax. In fact I asked afterwards "is that it?"Good luck and fingers crossed for fast match. I'm still waiting and tomorrow marks 4 months. But there has been interest. Just not right. X

Hi, I'm having my first home visit on Monday & was wondering how long it takes roughly to get to panel stage? I understand every area will be different just want a rough idea on how long it could take. I'm all new to this so forgive me if this has been asked before. Thanks.

Izzy, it is one of those things that really differs. My LA have a rule that it should be a maximum f 8 months from application (unless there are issues). So far I've had no issues and it has taken 10 months (if I make it to panel in September). Social workers are very over worked and sometimes simply don't have the time.

Izzy, the new rules which came into being in July say it should be 6 months from application to panel.My LA seems to be getting round this by deferring the official application. I've been on the adoption journey since Feb when I went to info evening (telephone interview March, initial visit plus initial form filled in April, second form filled in in July, prep course in Sept) & I've not 'officially applied' yet!So, despite new rules, timescales are variable

Hi VickyThe same happened with my DH and I. We had our information evening last Dec. Initial visit Feb. Then prep group April. At each stage we filled a form to say we wanted to move to the next stage. Our official application was given to us at prep group. Since then its moved quickly. Our first home visit was in June and we had our last at the end of July. Panel 8th Oct so from application to panel it will be 6 months. I think its difficult for sw sometimes as new processes are introduced but extra financial support for the LAs to introduce the new processes are always last on the governments list. Hope it all runs smoothly for you

Thanks Nellie, that's good to know -I'm looking forward to prep. I know some LAs have stopped information evenings etc until they get their heads around the new process. Hope all goes well for you in October.

You will enjoy prep group but after day 1 felt completely exhausted. We were in bed for 9.30pm. There is a lot to take in but obviously well worth it
