Down syndrome and agression

t7p April 21, 2013 10:31
I hope no one minds me asking for advice on behalf of my sister. Her 7 year old BS has Down syndrome. He''s a lovely, bright little boy who is much loved by us all and is particuarly close to my middle AD. Anyway, the little one has begun to lash out aggressively at my sister. He kicks and hits her, sometimes refuses to walk and throws himself down on the street etc. He always says sorry after an outburst, but it is wearing my sister out and as I live a long way from her and don''t see her very often I can''t help as much as I would like. I know his is typical toddler behaviour, but he isn''t a toddler so how do you deal with it when the child is too heavy to lift? How does she get him to stop hitting her? Thank you for reading.
