Meeting Birth Mother.

LucyLou79 July 30, 2016 18:58
Hi all. Am 37 years old, will possibly be meeting birth Mother at the end of August- I don't know anything about my birth father and obviously want to, I'm nervous enough about meeting her. Should I mention before about my father and any information she has (a picture) etc. I really don't know - any advice appreciated!

Hello LucyLou79 You are clearly at an important point in your life. I have found this site that may be helpful to you: http://www.adoptionsearchreunion.org.uk/contact/reunions/ Have you found your birth mother yourself or have you used an intermediary? I would think it would be very helpful to be working with an intermediary who could discuss issues with you as they arise and advise if you encounter problems. Have you been in contact with the adoption agency/social service department that was involved? There are usually specialist workers who would work with you. At the very least I would suggest that you arrange to see a counsellor to give you support at this time. Wishing you all the best. Lily x
