Do I give It all Up...........?

sharandpet July 2, 2010 15:51
Hi all,About 3 years ago we got ourselves into a bit of financial trouble due to my darling wife having to go into hospital and being off for 3 months where her company only paid the minimum £69 per week. For the last 3 years I have worked extra weekends with a few breaks here and there. I have worked my wotsit off and nothing has got better. We are just holding our heads above water and try to keep the kids happy. For me every day is a battle, I have recently been passed over (again) for promotion, I have been trying to better myself to get us out of this mess but it never works. I have been thinking recently - shall I just give it all up and let the obvious happen, loose the house the car and just write it all off. This would give me weekends back, perhaps my children would not see me as the ogre from hell I become with little sleep, I will be able to stop doing car booties to make ends meet and worring about whether we will have enough petrol money to get to work this week!!!!!!My problem is that I am a fighter and will keep trying to sort it and perhaps one day I will. Maybe?p

That is such a shame, and we have been close to this ourselves at a few points over the past 12 years. We are now in a better position after downsizing (pre-kids! - which I know may not be possible in your position!)Have you tried an experienced and reputable IVA Company? I am not too sure how bad off (not sure that is in English!) you have to be to qualify, but surely it is worth a try? On the other hand, about 10 years ago my SIL and her now ex-hubby got in some financial problems as a result of him wishing to live the highlife whilst unemployed (don't ask!) and she ended up declaring herself bankrupt. This is not something that I am saying would be good for you... however, she was able to remain living in her house until she sold it, and then the money went to the Creditors... she had a young baby, so not too sure how this worked. The good thing is for a about 3 years she worked her way back up again, and is now in a much better financial position, and has worked her way up the property ladder again.I assume your children are Adopted legally? I know it may be a long shot, but have you tried contacting the LA the children came from and explaining the circumstances to see if you are able to qualify for ant Adoption Support (Quite unlikely, but woth a try?)Sorry you are in such a bad way with this, I hope you find a way out.Dishy
