Sophie's Moonbeams Trust to help families attend our annual conference

AUK Membership Manager August 16, 2019 11:16

Hi everyone,

A number of you got in touch to ask if there was any financial support to attend our annual conference this year. So we got in touch with the charity Sophie's Moonbeams Trust and we're delighted to tell you that they want to try and help!

Sophie's Moonbeam Trust provides financial support to families of adopted and/or special needs children and young people, so that they can secure therapies or attend training or useful conferences.

Whether you're a member or non-member of Adoption UK, if you have a total household income of less than £50,000 per year, visit the Trust's website via the below link to complete an application for a grant to cover the cost of attending the conference. Please be quick though, the deadline for applications is 31 August 2019

Click here to apply via the Sophie's Moonbeams Trust website

We hope this support from Sophie's Moonbeam's Trust helps many of you to join us in Harrogate this November.

Further information about this year's conference can be found on the conference pages of our website. Alternatively you can contact us at [email protected]

Best wishes, from all at Adoption UK :)

Could you edit this to make it clear that the trust only funds people resident in England and Wales. Scotland and N.ireland residents need not apply.

That's a shame Bakergirl as those in Scotland and NI will probably be the ones who will find it hardest to get to the conference as the distances are so much longer :(

Yes I know Bop! Don’t usually attend the conference because if travel but when the email came through about the trust I thought “oh maybe!” So clicked on to site, read up, began to consider then noticed it is only for those resident in Wales and England.

Quite typical though of how we are forgotten over here. Although I have to say adoption UK regional office in Northern Ireland is excellent, with lots happening for us adopters but when I read the adoption today magazine, and read these forums I do feel the majority of its focus is England.

Maybe they would consider reducing the conference fee for us minors in the outer regions of the UK.
