Thinking of adopting again- are we mad?

Ninjabeagle December 22, 2020 13:02

Hello all,

I haven't posted here for years..

Husband and I adopted our daughter just over 7 years ago. It hasn't been easy. She has a diagnosis of adhd, fasd, asd and spd. But she is an utter trooper and despite everything life has thrown at us, she is doing really well. She has a great attachment to us and is a great kid.

We had a long chat today and she opened her heart to me ( this is hard for her). She would love a sibling. I would love her to have a sibling too. BUT, she is about to start play therapy in the new year, I am on anti depressants and we have had support from adoption support.

Would it be stupid to even consider it? I don't work, we are financially in a good place.

Thanks

no madder than you were the first time !

But you say your daughter would like a sibling, you would like her to have a sibling, but you don’t say you want another child.

Having gone through therapy with my son, I couldnt have added in an adoption assessment on top of that.

Being totally honest , I would wait six months. Let the therapy get going and see how she copes, let the world around us return to something like normality, think about whether YOU want another child.

Good luck with the therapy.

Merry Christmas
