Hi I'm from ni. Yes you are right things are very different here. The assessment process for a start can take anything from a year to 2 plus years depending on which trust you are in. I have considerable experience in recent years in the Northern Ireland adoption scene so feel free to private message me any questions and hopefully I can point you in the right direction.

Hi, we are also in NI. We contacted the SW in May 2016 and went on the course in Nov 2016. We applied immediately after the course and then had a 6 month wait to start the assessment process. We went to panel in Sept 2017 and were approved. We are now patiently (ha!) waiting for a placement. I found the process very informative and straightforward. Our SW has been brilliant. Good luck and feel free to get in touch.

I’m from NI and have been approved for a second time recently. We went through Family Care Society who I would highly recommend. We were approved in under nine months both times and our wee one was placed with us a few weeks after panel. If you are considering concurrent planning or adoption I would get in touch with them. They are professional, supportive and have a very positive ethos.

Hi yellowduck, I can second what you say about family care. They are excellent. Where you involved in their unite project? I would be interested in how speedy you feel the matching process may go this time around? Have they indicated the likelihood of a speedy match.
