Disappointed

Jingle bells May 8, 2019 23:59

I am potentially a prospective adopter,. I pay the auk subscription, I am in discussion with an agency about going down the adoption route but very early stage in the process. I have an up to date police check but when I approached the agency to verify that I was a prospective adopter they said no, no, no, far to early to have access to link maker. I didn't ask for access to link maker, I asked for them to verify I was a prospective adopter. So, I have just gone to message someone who is in need of support, to find I am unable too. Because I have not been verified. This is very disappointing..

Hi - just to let you know we are aware of this problem in general and are looking into it. In the meantime you could contact support to see if there is anything we can do in your specific case. If an agency have taken you to the point of police checks that ought to be enough - we may just need to clarify with them that it’s for the community and not family-finding. You shouldn't need to approach your agency yourself - when you you apply for full access online our support team make contact and will specify what the verification is for.

Admins - Mojo has raised an important point. But also what about those people who are in such early days of their thinking about adoption that they havent even got as far as talking to an agency, let alone applying. You are excluding a whole raft of prospective adopters.

Hi all. Just to address some of the questions in this and other threads:

- We are reading all of the comments about membership levels and verification process, and will raise with Adoption UK. We can answer some technical questions quickly, but some issues need discussion first.

- Link Maker hasn't taken over Adoption UK - we have a partnership covering online only, and it doesn't affect any other aspect of either organisation.

- Any of the teething problems or missing features (the 'recent posts' button is coming very soon) are not due to more money not being spent. The work involved is being done at no cost to Adoption UK, and Link Maker are using all resources available to get things resolved quickly. We want this to work for as many people as possible and are doing our best - thanks for bearing with us.

Andy
