Sibling Contact

homebird2003 September 8, 2013 12:25
We have struggled for years to increase contact for our daughter (we adopted my husbands niece) with her adopted siblings and recently they took matters into their own hands and initiated Facebook contact with her and her non adopted siblings. After the initial flurry of excitement I notice that they do not reply to any of her messages and when she strikes up a live conversation with them they do not respond. I have asked their a.mum if the could kindly reply now and then and she offered to speak to them about it. Reading another thread on here it has just struck me that they probably have no idea how upsetting it is for her see that they are online and reading her messages but not bothering to reply. It could be down to lack of empathy caused by early trauma and the resulting adoption. Could that be the answer? How do I explain that to a 12 year old?
