abuse and harassment

filmbuff October 9, 2012 21:41
Just seen this in another thread in this group - Although message board users may not always agree with moderation decisions, Adoption UK staff have the right to carry out their duties free from abuse or harassment. Abusive behaviour towards Adoption UK staff members is unacceptable, and will not be tolerated. I''m puzzled - I looked through the comments and could not find anything remotely like abuse or harassment. People are annoyed for sure. I think this is actually threatening language by the mod. Using language like abuse or harassment looks like a way to get people to back down. I''ve been a member for a long time and been on these boards for a long tome but dont post much. My thoughts are that there is now a large gap between AUK and its members. Using strong language like abuse and harassment when there isn''t any certainly doesnt help. Were there posts of this nature sent directly to the mods and not posted on the boards? If there was then the mod is correct - not acceptable.I would request this post and the thread with the original comment is brought to the attention of senior management.filmbuff

Dear filmbuff,Thankfully, abuse and harassment, as you pointed out, are very rare on our boards. However, there have been occasions when a moderator’s decision to remove a post has resulted in abusive messages being sent directly to our moderators. The threads that initiated the situation will have been removed from the boards. I can assure you that the senior management team of Adoption UK were briefed at the time, and we will highlight your comments to them again on this occasion.Online Community TeamAdoption UK
