Opportunity to participate in a research study

Online Community Team November 24, 2010 13:09
Good Afternoon,Would any message board users be interested in participating in a research study of adoptive family life amongst gay, lesbian and heterosexual parent families? The research is headed by Professor Susan Golombok, Director of the Centre for Family Research, at the University of Cambridge. The study is currently focusing on lesbian and gay adopters, though later on they will also invite heterosexual adopters to participate. They are looking for families with an adopted child aged between 4-8 years old (although they are also open to families with younger children as they can see them much later on when their child turns 4).As well as using this research to learn more about the role of fathering and mothering in children''s psychological development, Professor Susan Golombok hopes the study will help adoptive families and those who work with them in the future. BAAF are very keen for this research to be carried out, and intend to disseminate the findings to all those who work with gay and lesbian adopters. It is also hoped that the results can be used to inform policy makers and the public more broadly about diversity in family life.If you are interesting in taking part in this study, please contact Laura Mellish, Research Assistant, at ---- EMAIL REDACTED ---- .Best wishesOnline Community TeamAdoption UK

Hi Just wanted to say we have taken part and it was extremely well presented. The ladies that saw us, were extremely polite, helpful and family friendly. They spent time with all of our family, even though our older child is too old to take part. It was well worth it. The questions were probing, but not intrustive. I would say that if anyone is thinking about taking part it is well worth it.Thanks
