Attachment chat to yr 6 Children

Jellies May 23, 2013 17:02
I was asked by an adopter mate to go and talk to her childs yr 6 class about attachment.I ummed and aarghhed a bit about doing it and whether I had the knowledge and whether I could put the info across in a way that would make sense to 10/11yr olds, that would not scarce some children but that would also help them to understand why some classmates live and think with a different brain.Well, I did do it and I hope I struck the balance well. I must admit to being on tenterhooks about the feedback from the teacher (together with an evaluation of sorts from the children). Hope I get it soon. All bar one child seemed to be totally engaged with the session. If it was useful, I may consider putting myself out there as a resource to our LA primary Schools.

Really glad they engaged with it - you obviously got the balance right.Did many teachers come along? They really need to hear it too.Let me know when the Jellies Education Foundation is up and running and you can come along to my schools!Chooky

Excellent acronym (which those that have been around a while will know I luuurrvve) JEF - brill thanks Choo.No feedback from teacher yet but friend spoke to her yesterday and told her it was excellent and that the children did ask her questions later in the day.Only one teacher present but this is a school that on the whole probably gets it.
