Press and PR Assistant February 28, 2013 15:03
Hello, We''ve had the following request for foster carers and adoptive parents of adopted children to complete a survey on school partnerships with pupils:I am studying for an MBA in Educational Leadership at the Institute of Education in London. I am in my second year and the module I am studying is Leadership in Diverse Cultures and Communities. I am a deputy headteacher in a special school in London. I am currently on adoption leave as my son was placed with me in November 2012. He is 5. My assignment working title is : How do school leaders build partnership with parents, exploring how the pupil premium maybe used to raise attainment of looked after children? I am aiming the questionnaire to foster carers and adoptive parents of school age children. Here is the web link. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/5WR9DDY

and pupil premium does not apply to children once adopted. They are not treated as vulnerable children in any government statistics about attainment etc.

My ds2 was fostered by us for over 2 yrs , before the AO, but I have never heard of pupil premium, maybe it doesn't apply in Scotland? Our two adopted children have achieved well at school but this is because the primary head has been very supportive of us, listening and acting on any concerns we have raised. She has been proactive about getting herself and staff informed about the issues lac and adoptive kids have, and there have been ongoing reviewed targets for each childs education. Lac kids are also monitored for any learning or behaviour issues that might arise and issues are addresses with appropriate support or referral.Aso secondary school has a pupil support section for any kids that need it. They liase with teachers to ensure pupils are able to access the curriculum regardles of needs ( physical emotional etc) The school has a head who is freindly with pupils but any behavioural issues are nipped in the bud so there is a good atmosphere in the school.Money helps for e.g. Laptops for dyspraxia etc but its the quality of staff that really counts!!
