A strange one?

fran1 April 6, 2013 22:12
DH took AD for a regular eye test today, she has learning difficulties and some days are better than others.Normally she is reasonably good at recognising the letters but not today so they tried with black and white pictures of everyday objects apparently she was very poor at this and they had to examine the back of her eye to test her vision, she doesn''t need glassesThe strange thing is older AD (11) went along and she said to DH that younger AD (9) had told her she finds it hard to see and name pictures that are in black and white and needs them to be colourful. We hadn''t noticed this and iam going to do some sneaky checks over the next few days to see just how much this is the caseDoes anyone have any ideas what this may be please?

This is an interesting one. My Ad has a learning disability but managed her eye test with help and patience. There was a black and white film on the tv at the weekend. Ad usually loves any film even if she doesn't understand it. This time however she became quite upset and kept claiming that it made no sense, that the people looked funny and she couldn't hear what they were saying.I was surprised as the story line was just her style but she became really agitated and I soon turned off.Might do some home tests and see what I find.Won't know the answers but interesting anyway.

Do they have problems with night vision as well? The eye has two types of receptors, rods and cones. Roughly, cones do colour vision while rods do grayscale vision, peripheral vision and low light conditions.

Children with learning difficulties often find it easier to interpret colour pictures than black and white so it may be that rather than her vision.
