Is anyone else struggling with the amount of time it takes to get info?

mrstownend May 28, 2019 18:05

It has now been over a week since we requested further information on a potential match. Has anyone else had such long waits for simple questions to be answered?

I totally appreciate there is more to it, than just sending a quick email, but surely all matches should be dealt with quickly for both parties involved.

A week doesn’t seem that long - especially given it’s half term so sws may be on leave? Frustrating yes, but I’d hazard a guess that holidays/school holidays will delay a response

A week really isnt that long though its it - particularly with a half term and a bank holiday thrown in. Maybe there are a number of prospective families interested? Or the SW may be dealing with other children.

I remember when we got to the final stages of our matching process just before panel, the SW must have spent the majority of her working week on us for two or three weeks, so that meant other cases werent really being looked at.

As with everything in adoption world - patience is the name of the game !

As others have said, it isn't too long - and especially in the run up to and during half term time. I think we waited around 4 weeks on responses, although that was a few years ago now.

I hope you will hear something soon.

Hi we found the same quite often when looking at prospective matches, sometimes we didn’t get a repIy for weeks. I agree with the others, but would suggest you get your social worker to contact them directly too. Sometimes this helps although they may also have to wait for a response. Best wishes, patience as difficult as it may be is definitely a virtue in this process.

Hello, a week isn't long at all. We have waited weeks before and not heard a thing and even when chasing it up you still don't always hear back quickly. Some SW are so snowed under I think some things that are not urgent get pushed to the back of their to do list. I do totally understand (as I have been and am there right now) how frustrating it is, we have all come such a long way in our journeys and we just want the outcome now. I do agree with serrakunda27 patience is the best thing to have when going through the adoption process.

Hi, we’ve been waiting months and we are still waiting, it’s so hard! I am such a patient person, but even I’m now exasperated with it all
