Significant Compassionate witnesses

steps August 31, 2013 11:12
Camilla from Kids Company has said that all young people need adults in their lives who are significant and who give them significances, who show them compassion and who witness and care about their lives.I just wanted to say thank you for all of you on the boards who have been such compassionate witnesses to my life as parent to 4 late placed children (5+)over the last 7 years I have been using the boards -you have given me so much encouragement, empathy, ideas and at times have shared my pain and have celebrated the good times.Shakespeare says "give sorrow words" and you and the boards have enabled me to put into words both the ? and the ! of my journey as a parent .Thank you all so much

That's so lovely- I too find I have significant compassionate witnesses (SCW):- these boards- my husband- my parents & in-laws- my amazing friends who are also adoptive parents- our private therapist- particular statutory professionals who go over & above to help to get the services our children so badly need- my brother & sister-in-lawwithout these individuals we would have sunk!Thank goodness we've gradually rebuilt a more resilient support network than the one we thought we had at the start of this journeyWho do others have s their SCW?
