Hi to All,Although we have followed these boards on & off over the last couple of years, we feel it''s time for us to say Hi and join these boards once & for all in the hope of seeking... well we''re not really sure, but hopefully some advice, support or who knows, maybe we could even often the odd bit of expertise ourselves along the way!? A little bit about us... we are a happily married couple of over 10 years & our journey to parenthood has been far from smooth (as I guess is the same for many of you out there) our Adoption journey (which has so far lasted over two years) finally saw a major milestone last Friday when we were APPROVED at PANEL!!!! Now that''s not to say that news has totally sunk in yet, but we are completely over the moon!! Inpatience however is already settling in despite our best efforts, lol, so we are busy distracting ourselves!Anyways, I guess it would be a nice place to start to say Hi to All & to kick start off this post with my first burning question!! LoL!I know that this is different for everybody, everywhere but generally how long has it taken for peeps to go from Panel to actually expressing interest in profiles / hearing from your SW''s / started the process in general!?Thanks for reading

Hi and congratulations for getting approved !I think time to get a match is really variable depending on the kids your LA or VA has, your circumstances etc but also whether your sw pushes for you, and how long before your LA or VA will allow you to be matched nationally.I have adopted twice. First time took about 2 years for a match (some other links suggested but mostly not at all close to a match). Second time very different for me, link v quick, although it still took a while to finalise.Presume you know about New Family Social too ??Hope everything falls into place quickly for you ))ducks

Hi Ducks,Thank You Yeah we are in the process of signing up with New Family Social, looks good Wow, 2 years!! Altho obviously the wait was worth it, i'm sure! Think we are dreading this part the most, although I dont think we ever saw past Panel really, the thought of the waiting begining all over again is a little overwhelming! Not helped by the fact that due to our two years of experience with our particular VA & our SW we know wholeheartedly that the "finding" and "enquiring" will be absolutely down to us. We accept that this is the way it will be with them unfortunately! Altho, we dont see it as a bad thing as we think searching & enquiring & all that's involved will be a good way to keep us busy & will play a great part in our claiming cycle (that's the hope anyway!) All that in mind tho, we are seriosuly hoping it doesnt take anywhere near as long as the first part of our journey! Lol!Thanks for your reply, it's reassuring to share others experiences

We were exactly a year from panel to introductions with our little one, with a failed link inbetween. Probably not bad in terms of some. Good luck x

Hello,We were approved in Feb 2010 and then were shown some matches in the March. The profile of our 2 boys shone through and we went to matching panel in the June 2010 and they moved in a few weeks later!Our matching criteria was quite flexible and we wanted a sibling group.Good luck to you!

congratulations for getting approved. we showed lots of interest in various children and it can vary how long the link/matching process can take. it took us another 18months after approval panel and we are going to meet little one this week. partly it was because we are a same sex couple and ended up on the bottom of the list, partly it is because ss can be slow in proceedings and partly a link wasn't quiet right. The good thing is, that it will happen after approval panel even if it takes some time. it took us nearly three years to get to approval panel. good luck on your journey.

It seems to vary massively. We are due at panel next week, and the LA started showing us potential matches a month ago...! We're now matched with matching panel scheduled for just over three weeks after the approval panel (they wanted to do both on the same day, but we needed to put the brakes on as we'd not had a minute to get ourselves ready). If it all comes off (a big IF of course) we will have LO at home with us exactly a year since we first made the call to our LA. Super speedy. And I can't figure out why this is the way in some places and not others...
