welfare rights assessment

I''ve got one of these booked for AS in a week and they are going to look at what he can claim and what contribution will be made from me (I think) and what the LA will pay towards his care package.I thought that as an adult now (he''s 19) that they would only look at his income and not mine but they want proof of every bit of my income including the bits that are not included in things like tax credits like maintenance. surely if he''s an adult the assessment should only cover HIS income and not mine? I have a decent income becoz my ex is generous, and I have a lot of savings becoz I have no pension fund, but they want to check that too, and if I had a pension fund check that. I will be very cross if the savings I have worked hard for for years, and are the only thing going to keep me from dire poverty in old age, are now to be spent on supporting my adult son to access adult special needs services, surely that cant be right? I don''t have to financially support my two non disabled children now they are adults.so am a little confused. can they really assess my income to decide what he, as an adult, is entitled to? or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

Big Girl ( now 27) only had her income considered so I hope it hasn't changed. Queenie

spoke to someone else earlier and they said similarly, will make the evidence needed much simpler becoz he only gets dla at the minute tho know he is entitled to a lot more than that. thanks
