First home visit

Hi everyone, I’m new to all of this and super excited and nervous too. My DH and I are having our 1st Home visit with our SW in the morning. Jus wanted to know what to expect. Her email stated that they will look at the shared areas and bedroom for a child to be placed. I just wanted to know what part of the house with be checked. Would that include my actual bedroom too? We have a 9yr old BS who is also super excited

Hi kullerz, On our first home visit the SW looked through the whole house and then had a quick chat with us. This first house check was described to me as a way for them to highlight any obvious problems e.g. The prospective adopter stating they had a spare room but they don't or major safety concerns. I remember feeling exactly the same as you and spent ages getting ready for it, for it to be over in a flash!! Good luck tomorrow xxx

Ours just had a quick look round at the end of the interview / chat - it was very much a cursory glance rather "oh I'd better have a quick look round " than something that was of massive importance - so more just to pick up any major issues - it was the only time they did so after that we just talked about it so I suppose it gave them a framework for any discussion. It was a long time ago so might have changed

Thank you for your input. The SWs came today. I’ll have to say we did feel relaxed when they were actually here. They were here for 2hrs. Mainly we discussed our favourite subject.. our DS ☺️ They checked all of our documents for the DBS checks and then a quick look around the house
