Photo Book for a (nearly) 5 year old

I know there are other threads with same topic, but don''t want to hijack someone else''s thread! Can anyone share ideas for a photobook for a 4, nearly 5 year old boy? I have a few ideas, but am struggling with what to write to go with the pictures. For example - with a picture of me and my husband "Hi, this is Marco and Mrs Marco. We are looking forward to meeting you soon"?? I don''t want to put too much pressure or expectation on him, but also want the words to be warm, welcoming and age-appropriate. I am also thinking - pictures of rooms of our house with us (or the cat) in them. Our garden, the trampoline, his bedroom, the lounge, us cooking in the kitchen, local park etc. Help!!

If you're using the search facility try a search for "family book" or "album" and you will find some more threads with lots of ideas. "intro albums for older children" by biloxiblues is good (includes some general stuff as well as tips for older ones)."Family book for young child - JANEJJ??" by boobookitty has good tips. "Putting together our lifebook" by Iddly is a useful one as well.My children were primary school age. They appreciated little interactive chatty bits in the book like 'Can you spot the cat?' 'Can you see three children on the slide?' 'Here we are having a picnic. What do you like to eat?' These worked well both with ds who was already reading and dd who was being read to. They also particularly showed enthusiasm for pictures of the local park, local school, local shops, local fish and chip shop. And they were delighted to recognise all of these when they arrived. For home I was advised to use everday practical kind of pictures (kitchen, bathroom, toilet etc.) and some pictures of food or eating, to reassure children who might not understand that these would be provided. And I drew my own cutaway picture of the house, showing how the rooms were - this was a big success as they knew their way round when they arrived.I took advice from a primary school teacher and chose the font and simple sentences to make the book accessible for a young reader. Do you know whether your prospective son is learning to read already?
