Archive content now available

Good morning, I wanted to give you an update on our work to develop the forums. Thank you again to those of you who completed the forum survey. The results have given us invaluable guidance on how to move forward. You will notice that there is a new button at the top of the forum which gives you access to archive content from the old message boards. Our next steps will be: to add further functionality to the boards, including a powerful and flexible forum-only search; to change the headings for some of the boards and reduce the number available in order to make it easier to navigate; and to make further adjustments to the styling of the boards. As the work progresses we'll be sure to post further updates. All the best, Kate

Shadow - I'm not a paid member but can access the archive. You might need to contact the mods unless its a glitch.

Really lovely to see the archive there. It's like seeing old friends after a long absence! Will you be able to make it searchable? Currently the search function doesn't pick up the archive - it could be really time consuming trying to find a particular post! Thanks for adding it though - much appreciated.

Hi Shadow, If you are still having problems seeing the archive, could you possibly email us (---- EMAIL REDACTED ----) with a screen grab of what you're seeing and we'll look into it further. In answer to greyspeckledhen's question, the new search that we're working on will give you the option of searching just current boards, just the archive, or both together. Kate

Every time I go on forum it says 'archive' and I can't find how to start a new thread. I managed yesterday but not now.?! Pain in the bum.

Hi larkascending. Did you ever find out the answer to your question?! Sounds as if you are clicking on "archive" top left, instead of going to "posted today" top right, or even better "Forum". You can't post to the Archive, this is why you can't start a new thread, as the Archive is only for looking at historical stuff. The "search" function is due to be added soon to the Archive. NB What I'd really like is a way of putting into order the results of a Search on this board - then I could tell if this problem had been solved, by seeing whether or not you've since started a thread. Larkascending: Contact the "contact us" link below, and you'll get an answer, if you're still waiting and wondering!!!

There are many posts in the archive labelled as submitted by me, Fruitcake, which certainly were not written by me. I am quite upset by this as my identity is known by some and this is seriously misleading, affecting not just me but my children. I would like all posts by me removed, please, for security reasons. Please pm if you need more info.

AUK: I agree with Fruitcake. I have seen a post on the Older Adoptees' board apparently started by one person and the first reply is from that person herself - which cannot be true. This now calls into question the validity of the transfer of the archival content.

Looks like it has assumed that each thread is written by the last person who replied to it. It isn't randomly getting confused, so presumably that glitch could be sorted? if everyone anonymises their posts it will become very hard to follow the threads. Might be better to temporarily remove the archive until it is sorted?

Thanks to everyone who brought this glitch to our attention and we do apologise for any confusion that this has caused. We have now been informed by our web agency that the error has been rectified. It would help us enormously if you could check a couple of your threads/posts and make sure that this has indeed been rectified and let us know. Thanks so much for your patience with this matter. Unfortunately, we have no confirmed date for the archive search facility yet but we will let you know when we do. Best wishes Online Team
