I'm not a member and I have recieved one.

I have on occassions reported a post to get the online team to tell the helpline that someone is in dire need. I have done that when the poster is relatively new (just to make sure that they are not hoaxers either), if they don't seem to be able to hear or take in what fellow board users are advising.I am a member, and I don't think I have ever recieved a message of support - maybe that is because the online teams that minitor the boards know which users have been around from the yr dot and assume that we maY HAVE very good personal / online support from felllow mambers of the boards. Not nessecarily the case though.Jellies

I have been around from year dot and on and off not actually been a member..I do get the AUK private message, sometimes I ring the helpline sometimes I just message them back thanking them for there offer of support. I have assumed over the years that they respond to posts that they see as in need.

I've always thought it was a nice thing for auk to do but I have often seen 2 or 3 posts where posters appear to be in genuine crisis but only 1 of them gets an auk messageI wondered how the decision was made

I don't understand how it works.On a recent thread that the mods had been commenting on I asked a direct ? but 2 weeks later have had no reply either privately or via the boards.BTW I am a paid up member.
