I've come back after being a regular a few years ago.... A link to the forum isn't obvious on the main site. Maybe that's why?

Huge amount of Forum categories means much less to read in each one - and because of this it may be much less likely for some categories to be read at all, let alone commented on??

Agree Lily about lack of link from AUK main site. I've got a link to 'posted today' on my phone, but if ever I want to search the forum it's nigh on impossible to find where the main forum page with search functionality is. I thought it was just me.

Tricky to find actually plus the summer breaks away make things quieter. also I do think many of us use other social media and groups to do the support in a more private way.

I think the big time gap when the site was down for weeks has made a difference. Some names I have not seen since. And it's always quieter in summer. Maybe it will pick up as new folks come looking , and as winter comes ! As for other social media, the other forum site I was familiar with is even quieter these days than this one. For me, I don't want involved with Facebook for personal and security reasons so I hope it's not there at all the activity is. . And Potato Group costs and I ( so far) dont need it. Not sure what else is out there" I think a lot of us found this site via membership of AUK given to us for a few years at the time we adopted.

I think it’s been several times the boards have been updated and each time lots of people have left. This time it’s really hard to find if you’re doing so from scratch - I think it’s common when sites change their format that it doesn’t simplify things for users just adds more stages to reach. This site now seems to be for prospective adopters and those in the early stages and others post elsewhere. I too have problems with sites dependent on Facebook so have managed without those

Ah Pingu! the forum where 'the boss' threw me off? :-? It's summertime, too hot do anything, kids in the water and there are no problems. Give them an icecream afterwards and they are so tired that they straight fall asleep! lol And the smileys do no longer work, and brexit is causing continues problems, and New York having shark attacks and novichok mystery, and the Russians, and no rain, and the queen is getting old, etc, etc.

Ah, just found it in the navigation bar - it's hidden as a second level sub link. Oddly enough it does have a button at the top of the page which I've only just noticed. I never see that on mobile. Hmm. Someone needs to nudge their UX designers.

Oh hi everyone. Glad you are still here! I hope people drift back again. I totally agree that it is not as easy to find now . In fact whenever i put it in my link comes up as " this page does not exist " so i have to go on that first then click several pages to find it. Definitely a case of if it aint broke dont fix it !

(Yes. Pluto, and the same forum that I became wary of using after that incident, and I stopped using after the way Bop was treated. Pity, because it had better security options) Wizzywoo - I too have to go through several layers to get to the present AUK forum home page - I really must get around to updating my pc browser bookmarks !!

I always access the forums by clicking on a link in a recent email informing me that a thread I have posted on has a new post. A roundabout way! And I rarely use the phone for the Internet (being a bit of a dinosaur!!) It is deserted on here though :-( I don't have Facebook and would rather not so that's why I stay on here (but through this site have adopter friends in real life, 2 of whom we will be visiting this summer) I should say, I 'met' these friends through AUK forums but neither of them post much on here anymore. They use other social media.

Just remembered that a while back I made a suggestion to AUK about the forums but never heard back. :-(

I have made hunderds of suggestions, they rarely listen.

It is quiet. I check in regularly but don't seem able to post. Maybe because the weather is so lovely. Maybe because the summer can be really difficult for adopted children. I'm just really tired at the moment juggling difficult/embarrassing holiday experiences, yet another change in school, and a house move. I like to know that the support is here, and that there's always someone on the forum who has experienced something similar and survived.

I love these forums! I read regularly but don't often post, which is silly of me I suppose. I feel all you familiar names are friends - & when things are tough (& we have had a rough couple of years) someone on here ALWAYS gets it/has also experienced it. I remember the old-old change of forums (Pluto still hasn't forgiven the colour change :) ! ) & lots of people left then. Difficulty getting to these forums also can't help. But I love you guys on here! xx

I am with those who don't use facebook and my phone is pre smart phone so no forum on there. I get squares when people send an Emoji. I am impressed with those who have found the emojis on here. I am grateful to those who have made suggestions on here and it is good to hear of others who have similar challenges.
