bedroom space

Hi, I am in the process of applying to adopt. It's very early days, I've been to an 'introduction' evening at the LA I'm applying to be assessed by. I live in a two bedroom home with my 16 year old daughter. I'm weighing up all the options available for creating the right amount of space for a new edition to the family (if I'm approved). My question is do I need to move or could I divide my room into two? Some of the houses I've looked at have a 3rd bedroom which is smaller than the divided space I could create. I have also thought of buying a good quality bed settee for me in the living room and using the divided half of the room as a dressing room for me and allowing the child more space in their room. I was thinking of putting up a stud wall with some frosted windows in the upper half to create privacy with a door so the child will have their own space in a room with a window overlooking the garden. The advantages of staying in my current home is that it will be mortgage free in 7 years whereas if I move I will have a mortgage for another 12 years. Hope I haven't rambled on too much!

Thanks for that reply Lettice, you've made some valid points there. I think I will get a builder in to see what they think can be done .
