Parenting Our Children can funded by Adoption Support Fund

Training Team July 23, 2015 11:28
AUK’s six day Parenting Our Children (PoC) programme for adoptive parents is now available and can be funded by the Adoption Support Fund (ASF). It is delivered over a series of weeks on Saturdays. We want to encourage more local authorities to choose our unique, peer-led parenting support programme and make it more available to adoptive parents. Parenting Our Children has been endorsed by the likes of Dan Hughes, Bryan Post and Dr Jonathan Baylin and here’s what parents have said: “A brilliant course delivering up to date knowledge, explanations and strategies to help us parent our children. ...also gives us the opportunity to meet with other adopters, share experiences and gain support. Well worth investing the time regardless of how long your child(ren) have been home.” ‘Before the course there seemed to be no hope for our family, now we have grounds for real optimism.’ Adopters can ask their Adoption Support Team for an assessment under the ASF and request a parenting programme or book onto one of our open courses, currently set for Cardiff and Hatfield in the Autumn. We have two open courses running in Hatfield and Cardiff starting in Autumn this year. You can find out more about PoC on the Training pages of the AUK main website. See the comment below for the link. We would also like to hear from you if you have tried to apply for funding under the ASF for PoC and been unsuccessful.

Lovely that there's one in Cardiff. Sadly there's no asf in Wales to fund it! !

Hi Donatella, you are absolutely right. We sincerely hope that Wales gets their share of ASF in the future. We recognise the disparity and unfairness. At the same time, England adopters can apply to ASF and attend in Cardiff.
