To Medicate or not for an Ed. phy. assesment

We are having DD assessed by a Educational Psychologist soon and am wondering if she should take her ADHD meds./wear her weighted belt etc. or not. The reason for the assessment is to see if we can get additional help for her at her prep. school through the Education Authority/ or some grant from an educational trust.

Don't know if this will help, but I will tell you about my sons experience. The first time he was observed in school by the Educational Psychologist he was micro managed by the class TA. He stayed calm causing very little disruption. The Educationl Psychologist refused to support schools statement application.About a year later school tried again for a statement as they where finding it extremely difficult to manage him. At his next Ed. Psychologist visit my son was set up to fail. The head prepared a long boring assembly, my son was sat next to another child who was easily distractable. My son had to be removed from assembly, and the morning continued in a similar way. He got his much needed statement!

I think they should see him as he is, without meds. If they don't they won't recognise the extent of his difficulties. After all, he may try hard to be on best behaviour whilst observed, so they will already be getting the "edited" version.Phoebe x
