What happens if adoption notice is not given to birth parents within 14 days

Hi I am hoping that somebody may be able to help us with information on what will happen if social services have not issued the adoption notice to the birth parents within two weeks of it being issued. Our daughter has been with us now since September, our paperwork to adopt her was completed and filed in December. We received notification from the courts that the hearing for the adoption would be held in February. Within the letter it stated that social service where to make sure the birth parents had received the paperwork with in two weeks and proof of this taking place had to be available to the courts 48 hours before the hearing. It has come apparent now that social, services have failed to do this and my husband and myself are concerned that the court hearing will now be delayed. I am unable to get any information to why they haven't carried out this action or what may now happen due to everyone seeming to be on holiday for Christmas/new year. So I was hoping someone maybe able to help on here. And advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Hi. The courts contact birth parents, via court recorded delivery, to give them notice of legal proceedings. This includes your adoption order application. SS may write to them during this procedure to offer support, set up letterbox etc but they do not get involved in the legal aspects. My AO application was made in June 2014 but celebration hearing was not until Nov 2014. I had no real delays or appeals, just a slow court process. So I would try to clarify with SWs next week but try to take a back seat, these things go at their own pace and you are just not in control. It will be fine. Gx
