It's very worrying to look ahead and wonder how on earth the people attracted by this Fast-Track approach will survive. As with all other government Fast-Track initiatives, I fully anticipate the retention rate will be disappointing at best! It's a terrible mess when people without relevant support and skills are whooshed into positions they cannot cope with . We've seen the impact on schools of promoting incompetents! This is worse - these people are dabbling in the last chance saloon for children whose whole lives and long term mental health are at risk. It's disgraceful to be part of a marketing exercise without any consideration of the long term consequences. All concerned should be ashamed. The desperate wannabe parents are going to pay for this for ever - financially and emotionally. There will be NO support when this goes wrong. They will be left bereft and exhausted as a desperate child battles for control and systematically takes apart their career, relationships and health. The child will flounder helplessly as they are repeatedly rejected and struggle to access an education and health service that have hardly any skills and even less budget for them. Tragic. Far better if these adults were to register as long term foster parents, where they would access emotional and financial support for themselves and their children.
